UP schools and colleges will remain closed through Jan. 30; online course to continue

This is the second time the government has extended the reopening date for UP school. Uttar Pradesh previously extended school closures until January 23.

NEW DELHI: The government of Uttar Pradesh is further extending school closures until January 30, 2022, due to rising Covid-19 cases in the state. However, online classes will continue as usual in all schools, colleges and other educational institutions, said Avnish Kumar Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh, according to the ANI report.
This is the second time the state government has extended the reopening date for the UP school. Uttar Pradesh previously extended school closures until January 23 (Sunday).
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the Covid-19 situation in the state and ordered the authorities to strictly follow the Covid-19 guidelines for the upcoming eligibility test of the teachers of Uttar Pradesh (UPTET 2021).

Uttar Pradesh on Friday reported 22 coronavirus deaths as 16,142 new cases emerged, taking the state’s infection tally to 19, 16,616, according to a government statement. So far, 23,022 people have died from the infection in the state. Among the new deaths, two each were reported in Lucknow, Meerut, Lakhimpur Kheri, Chandauli and Ballia, PTI reported.
