UnityPoint Health launches free online courses for new parents

New parents often have questions and concerns when welcoming a new baby. To help relieve anxiety and boost confidence, UnityPoint Health – Trinity offers a convenient way to help moms and dads navigate parenthood.
A trained team of nurses and prenatal educators host the new “Birth & Babies: Lunch Hour Q&A” – starting April 1, 2022 – allowing parents to ask questions about the birth, fostering and care of babies. a new baby and how to take care of mom after she delivery. The one-hour course is offered online, from the comfort of home.
Topics include infant feeding, car seat safety and infant care. Parents can also virtually visit UnityPoint Health birthing centers on the Moline and Bettendorf campuses.
“It is sometimes difficult for parents to know where to start to get their questions answered. With this course, they can speak one-on-one with trusted professionals,” Rebecca Kerby, RN, lactation consultant at UnityPoint Health, said in a statement released Wednesday. “Parents can drop by whenever they want and talk to someone right away. You will have a support system during each class and will be free to voice your concerns.
Kerby says the class helps personalize the birthing experience for expectant parents.
“We want moms and dads to walk away with confidence in themselves and in the UnityPoint Health facility and staff. We make personal connections; parents can bump into us while they are giving birth here.
The free class is for first-time parents, but all moms and dads are welcome. Classes are held virtually once a month and you must register online. Classes will be held on a different day each month (not a fixed day of the week).
Registration is available HERE, and closes the day before each scheduled class at 11:45 p.m.
