Islamic finance practitioners and professionals can now register for a massive open online course (MOOC) on Islamic finance for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) starting July 24, 2022.

The Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) developed the MOOC in partnership with UNDP Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) Durham University Business School, Science, Technology and Innovation Fund ( STI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The first round of the MOOC will begin on August 1, 2022 which is designed to build the capacity of development professionals and Islamic finance partners to leverage Islamic finance for sustainable development.

Throughout the course, participants will learn the principles of Islamic finance and the applications of Islamic microfinance in socio-economic empowerment.

The course is divided into five main modules that combine theory and practice with the creation and video conferencing of 27 internationally renowned subject matter experts from 11 countries and 3 continents.

Each course will end by exploring the ways in which Islamic finance instruments and institutions can be used to support the SDGs through real case studies.

The free course will be publicly available on IsDBI’s Edx channel (https://bit.ly/3BfOj1h) and the UNDP Learning for Nature platform (https://bit.ly/3z9RncC).
