School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said on Monday online classes will start from Wednesday for students at Kaniyamur private school near Chinna Salem which has suffered the brunt of the violence following the death of a class XII student.
Speaking to reporters here, he said the Directorate of School Education had made alternative arrangements to resume classes for 2,694 and 500 students attached to Matriculation and CBSE schools housed on the same campus respectively. The government was keen to ensure that lessons were not further delayed for these students, he said, adding that online classes would be delivered by teachers attached to the two schools.
“We have also planned to resume physical lessons for students in classes IX to XII in schools. The Department of School Education has had discussions with the management of private schools in the surrounding area and up to 15 classrooms have been prepared. Regular classes would temporarily take place in these schools. A parents’ meeting would be held on Tuesday and depending on their feedback, physical classes would take place. Private schools have also agreed to provide 50 buses to transport students,” he said.
