Mariah Carey has launched a new MasterClass in which she teaches fans songwriting and production.
On Thursday, the 53-year-old music icon announced on Twitter that she had released the online series titled Mariah Carey: Teaching Voice as an Instrument.
“For the first time ever, I’m letting cameras in to witness my creative process,” she wrote in her Tweet, sharing a two-minute promo clip for the class.

The Fantasy singer continued, “Now on MasterClass, I invite you to ‘The Butterfly Lounge,’ my musical sanctuary where I write new songs, reinvent classics, and collaborate with artists from different genres.”
In the video, Mariah donned various black ensembles with shimmering gold necklaces and a diamond butterfly ring.
The We Belong Together singer was seen sitting in an ornate gold chair as she discussed her motivation for teaching the class.

“Music has saved my life in so many ways,” she said.
“If I can do the same for other people, that’s it.”
Mariah, who debuted at the age of 18, explained that she didn’t realize she was producing in addition to singing and songwriting while working on her self-titled debut album.

In the course, Mariah, who has a vocal range of five octaves, will teach people to use their voice not only for singing but also for songwriting, producing and instrumentation.
