IIT Madras offers a 2-week online course in Advanced Quantum Computing

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) The Pravartak Technologies Foundation organizes a two-week course on “Advanced Quantum Computing” with hands-on training on IBM QISKIT. It is a one-of-a-kind course that provides attendees with programming experience in IBM quantum computers and will help them explore the possibility of using quantum computers for high-performance tasks in multiple fields, says the university.
The course, offered in conjunction with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) India and the Mphasis Center for Quantum Information, Communications and Computing (MCQuICC) will take place at the campus of IIT Madras between 5 and 16 December 2022.
The course is open to participants from industry and government organizations. The deadline for registration is 2 December 2022. Interested persons can register at the following link – https://wsaqc.pravartak.org.in/
The Advanced Quantum Computing course will focus on introducing specialist topics to participants who are familiar with the fundamentals of quantum computing. It will also introduce the QISKIT runtime which will soon be the default method for programming in IBM QISKIT.
Highlighting the unique aspects of this program, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, said, “The Winter School on Advanced Quantum Computing, jointly organized by IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, Association for Computing Machinery India, the Mphasis Center for Quantum Information, Communication and Computing and IBM, is a one-of-a-kind course that provides participants with programming experience in IBM quantum computers. This advanced course will help participants explore and expand the possibility of using quantum computers for high performance tasks in multiple domains. »
Speaking about the programme, Dr. Anil Prabhakar, Head of MCQuICC, said, “The Mphasis Center for Quantum Information, Communication and Computing (MCQuICC) focuses on bringing quantum technologies to industry. As part of our training and awareness activity, we organize programs on quantum computing. We partner with IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundations and Association for Computing Machinery India to offer the Winter School on Advanced Quantum Computing.
Further, Dr. Prabhakar said, “This school is a continuation of the ACM School on Quantum Computing which was organized in January 2022. The objective of the program is to train participants in the use of IBM modules Advanced QISKIT on quantum machine learning, quantum finance and quantum simulation.
