CBSE has launched a free online training program for teachers
CBSE presents an online teacher education program through its Center of Excellence (CoE). The council’s decision to hold an online teacher training course comes after the successful pilot technology-based teacher training program which was held from the third week of May.
In the pilot program, CBSE organized over 500 free online training sessions, and over 35,000 teachers and school principals participated in these sessions.
Following the success of the pilot program, the board is now launching structured online teacher training programs. Training programs will enable teachers to teach better and achieve better learning outcomes.
The training session will also allow teachers to inculcate new knowledge and improve themselves to keep abreast of the latest developments in teaching methodology. Teachers will also be able to review and update what they already know.
Each online training session will last one hour. The training program is free and e-certificates will be issued to each participant. Participation in five sessions will be considered as one day of training in accordance with the membership regulations.
CBSE, on its official website, shared the calendar for the month of May 2020 as well as the participation guidelines. For this month, the CoEs have planned over 1,200 online sessions.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education hosted a webinar yesterday and said the course committees appointed by the CBSE are assessing the loss of teaching time and will reduce the program proportionately. The committees are working on a reduced schedule for various scenarios.
